  • Latin name is Boisea trivittata.  “Tri” meaning “three” and “vittata” meaning “banded”
  • they live in boxelder, maple and ash trees
  • adults are about 12.5 mm long
  • they range in color from dark brown to black with red wings or markings
  • they eat the seeds of the maple tree
  • they are considered a nuisance pest, because they usually don’t cause too much damage
