  • Native to North America
  • usually are seen in the late summer/fall
  • create web “tents” on the tips of tree branches
  • adult moth lay eggs on the underside of leaves
  • eggs hatch in about a week
  • larvae feed on the leaves inside the web “tent”
  • larvae stage last about 4-6 weeks
  • maximum length is 35mm
  • colors range from pale yellow to dark gray with yellow spots
  • not known to cause serious damage to trees
