  • Like damp, cool places (found in attics, basements, under leaf litter and bark
  • Long, slender bodies that taper at the end giving it a fish-like appearance
  • Shiny and silver to pearl gray in color
  • Wingless
  • Covered in scales
  • Long antennae and 3 threadlike appendages at end of abdomen
  • Fast runners; wiggling motion also resembles fish
  • Around 1/2 inch long
  • Nocturnal
  • Eat foods containing proteins or carbohydrates like dried meat, flour, sugar, paper, dead insects, and linen
  • Live 2-8 years and continue to molt as adults
  • Can live a year or more without eating
